I have an Xbox 360, how do I work out what DVD-ROM Drive I have?
Identifying which drive you have is simple. In general Australian consoles with a MFR date (rear of
console above A/V Cable connector) over 2008-04-xx are Lite-On drives but due to
the number of refurbished and repaired X360s on the market this is not a fool proof method of
determing your X360 model.
First method of deciding which
drive you have is to check out the drive Tray. As you can see above the Hitachi
(Rom Versions 32/36/40/46/47/58/59/78/79) and Toshiba Samsung (TS‐H943)
MS25 /MS28 models are easy to spot by just looking at the tray. Please note
however that the trays on the BenQ & LiteOn models are identical. So after
confirming your drive has a BenQ or LiteOn drive remove the faceplate of the X360 console.
Don't worry this does not void your warranty but make sure you don't remove or
scratch off the warranty sticker underneath the faceplate

Once the faceplate has been pulled off (clips no screws)
notice the number 2 box in the above photo. Inside this hole is a wire, if the
wire is a grey (dark white) the model is a BenQ, if the wire is yellow (light
yellow) then the
drive is a LiteOn. You can further determine if a LiteOn is a LiteOn V2 by simply checking the Manufacturing date on the back (MFR). In general if the console is later than August 12th, 2009 then you may have a LiteOn V2. Please note consoles repaired after August 2009 may also have a Lite V2. In case you couldn't work out whether your console was a
Samsung or a Hitachi from the drive tray, the Samsung drives have a red wire in
the hole while the Hitachi models don't have a hole at all.
I had my modded 360 Xbox done a bit ago but now it doesn’t play my new games. Can you help?
New protections have stopped new games from working in modded consoles (flash 360 console). The newest protection is AP2.5 and was released in December 2010 is AP2.5. Its common for older Xbox mods to display "This disc is unreadable" error codes on new games released after December 2010 like Fable 3. Furthermore with Xbox 360 flash (es) done previously to 2010 (ie iXtreme 1.61 and lower) Microsoft were heavily relying on wave protection which came in wave-3, wave-4, wave-5, wave-6, etc generations stopping both original and backup games from functioning after Xbox 360 flashing. With Wave protection customers would receive the “Play DVD” or Xbox 360 logo white screen. Since all current games are either wave protected or AP2.5 protected and often both, you need to have your 360 flash upgraded so get down to Mods-HQ. To protect our customers we offer 12 months of upgrades for just $20.00 which is great value.
With 360mods can I play on Xbox Live?
Currently its safe to use a X360 modchip online (mods Xbox) once you have iXtreme LT+ 1.1 flashed to your console (released 2010-11-25) however we accept no responsibility whatsoever for those who are bannedXbox Live. Of course all past Xbox flash services performed by us and others are no longer safe on Xbox Live. For users who are banned on Xbox Live we take no responsibility. We also get asked why we only do xbox 360 software mod options which are done through jungleflasher, this is simply because they are the best options and unlike with Wii softmods Microsoft don’t have the ability to flash over Xbox 360 softmod (s). Furthermore drives like the LiteOn and BenQ simply have no hard mod options and to be honest due to Xbox 360 soft mod options being more feature packed we wouldn’t offer them anyway. 360 flashing is definitely the way to go.
What is an Xbox 360 JTAG? Can I get it done?
Xbox JTAG ‘ing is a different method to flash a xbox 360 console, sadly under 1% of consoles can be JTAGed. JTAG Xbox 360 consoles allows you to run Xbox 360 homebrew and backup games to be played. The cost is $119 for these Xbox 360 mod chips to be installed. However consoles with a system update after August 2009 cannot be JTAGed. You can check by going to "Settings", then "Console Settings" and navigating to "System Info". The dashboard version must be 2.0.7.xxx or lower to be able to JTAG your console; you can see this on the right hand side of the screen. On top make sure your console is manufactured before May 2009, if you look above in the How to Identify section you can see how to work out your manufacturing date.
Modding Xbox consoles is our bread and butter so can call us on 0437611796, or email sales@mods-hq.com.au. Please note you don’t need to order via the “add to cart” button.
